In 2018, I felt a creative urge to paint. I had never painted before, but again recognized my desire to create. This time, I recognized it and I dove in. Initially, I began with acrylic paint with mixed results. Wood as a medium feels more natural to me, and I shifted my focus to wood veneers, a straight edge and a scalpel. I was lucky enough to learn from a talented marquetry artist, who taught me how to put it all together. It is a process of steps, and I’ve learned to appreciate and love the process of creating. Creating marquetry pieces from wood veneer and building frames from different hardwoods has combined my love of woodworking and creating art. My endless curiosity and inspiration from the natural world around me inspires my work.
